Key Responsibilities and Challenges

This role provides an opportunity to be involved in a wide variety of high-value, complex and challenging commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and disposals (both asset and share), development/regeneration work, landlord and tenant work, and the real estate aspects of corporate and finance transactions (including distressed real estate), across a broad range of sectors. You will work on both UK and cross-border transactions, working alongside colleagues in our international real estate team.

As an associate in the Real Estate group, you will be involved in a range of tasks, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating documentation and providing research and advice to clients. The transactional nature of much of the work conducted by the group necessitates that associates think practically and commercially to accommodate the needs of clients and to meet the often-challenging transaction timetables. There is a strong emphasis on teamwork and you will be expected to work well with others.

Technical

  • Understanding of legal principles of practice area.
  • Taking initial instructions internally and/or externally, delegating where appropriate.

  • Providing clients with accurate and well-structured advice, judging appropriately when to seek advice internally and when to advise without supervision.

Education/Qualification

Law degree or other degree.

Completed LPC and training contract or equivalent.

Admitted to the roll of England & Wales or equivalent.

Practical Experience

0.5-3 years' post qualification experience

Candidates will ideally have experience of working on a wide variety of commercial real estate transactions, including:

  • acquisitions and disposals of commercial real estate (ideally, both asset and share transactions);
  • real estate financings, transactions involving distressed real estate, and large corporate transactions (particularly those which are cross-jurisdictional);
  • lettings (acting for both investors and occupiers);
  • development work; and
  • property, asset and development management agreements.

Commercial Skills

Experience of client / business relationships.
