Having had an extremely busy start to the year, Singapore, like the majority of major financial centres around the world had been fairly quiet from a recruitment perspective whilst COVID-19 circuit breaking measures have been in place for almost the entirety of 2020. Many of our international law firm clients had temporarily frozen hiring or were only able to hire for business critical/replacement roles, meaning opportunities for overseas lawyers to relocate to Singapore were limited for much of the first half of the year.
Thankfully, as a result of effective circuit breaking measures, recruitment activity began to steadily increase in late June/early July 2020 with a much more dramatic uptick from September onwards. We are now extremely busy in terms of both new instructions as well as clients reactivating searches which had been temporarily paused earlier last year.
